Ethical Framework
BACP, BPS, and AFT each provide a set of guidelines or codes of ethics (see bottom left of Homepage for detailed information) and complaints procedures which aim to: protect the interests of clients; provide clear frames of reference for practitioners; and, maintain the integrity and high standards of the profession. The ethical guidelines for therapeutic work include regulations and conventions regarding such matters as confidentiality, safeguarding, respect for clients, and working with individual differences. Therapists are also required to undertake continuous professional development (CPD) and to provide details of such activities annually to professional bodies. I hold professional and public liability insurance and have on-going professional clinical supervision. I comply with all of these professional codes and requirements.
Background and Professional Interests
My private practice began based in SE London and Kent, where I worked from the late nineties with young people at risk, young adult offenders, vulnerable adults from BME client groups often presenting with complex problems. Since then I have lecturered at a medical college based in Hampstead, NW London (2005-09) as well as lecturering and training counselling candidates at foundation and undergraduate studies in South Essex (2009-10). I currently work in North Essex/Suffolk as a full-time Psychotherapist & Systemic Family Practitioner and enjoy the pace of life in Suffolk.
